With reference to Your Excellency's letter of 3rd. February, relative to the duties of the Registrar of the Supreme Court which I have the honour to acknowledge,

I beg to refer Your Excellency to the first sentence of paragraph 19 of my letter of 16th. January, which contains a request that I should be furnished with a fuller definition of the duties of the Registry over which the Judges have control and those over which they have none, and to which request Your Excellency's letter of 3rd. February contains no reply.

A careful perusal of the correspondence, and of Your Excellency's despatch to the Secretary of State of 5th. June gives no clue, and I cannot form any intelligent opinion as to what Your Excellency's views on the matter are. As Your Excellency's opinion conveyed in that despatch is based on Mr. Seth's views, and not on mine, I suggest that that Officer should furnish to Your Excellency a statement from which I hope to be able to gather...
